Immigrant Heritage Month
June is an opportunity to observe Immigrant Heritage Month and World Refugee Day. Iowa has been home to refugees and immigrants throughout the years. We encourage Iowans to explore their heritage and celebrate the diverse contributions that shape our state.
Celebrate the stories of your fellow immigrant and refugee neighbors here!
World Refugee Day
On World Refugee Day (June 20), Iowa Department of Human Rights Director San Wong and Deputy Director Monica Stone were speakers at the Ubuntu Leadership Summit. They led attendees through an exercise where they learned how state dollars are allocated to support immigrant and refugee families. Attendees also shared their immigration and refugee stories.
