Nutrition Statewide Initiative

 

Iowa Stops Hunger is a yearlong statewide initiative with Presenting Sponsor HyVee that was created to drive awareness and action around hunger and food insecurity in Iowa. The goals were to create ongoing awareness of hunger/food insecurity in Iowa, educate Iowans about hunger/food insecurity and related organizations and resources, and to inspire and equip businesses and individuals to take action to stop hunger in Iowa.

Disability Information and Access Line

 

In June the United States Health and Human Services (HHS) announced the launch of a national hotline to connect people with disabilities to information and services to improve access to COVID-19 vaccines. The hotline is called the Disability Information and Access Line (DIAL) and will help people with disabilities find vaccination locations in their communities, assist callers with making vaccination appointments, and connect callers to local services as needed to overcome barriers to vaccination. Global Accessibility Awareness Day Webcast

 

The Job Accommodation Network (JAN) in collaboration with other partners creates a webcast called Accessibility & Accommodations: How Employers & HR Professionals Can Prepare for Emerging Tech in the Workplace. This webcast provides information on how technology is impacting the workplace, what employers and HR professionals can do to prepare to assist individuals at work, and how this can benefit individuals with disabilities. This webinar can also provide information and insight to job seekers on how employers are able to support them and how the world of work is changing.

Elder Abuse Prevention

SAVE THE DATE!

 

In September, Paul Greenwood, former deputy district attorney for San Diego County where he led the Elder Abuse Protection Unit, will be live (virtually) to talk on the topic of elder abuse, with a focus on financial exploitation, which he says was an element in 65% of his prosecutions. Scheduled for September 23, 2021 from 10 a.m. to noon. More details to come but mark your calendars! Target audience for this session is professionals - advocates, social workers, law enforcement, county attorneys, judges, service providers, health care providers, attorneys, faith and spiritual leaders, financial institutions.
