Team Nutrition has just released some of your favorite standardized recipes with new yields. The new recipes provide crediting information to make preparing and serving delicious meals for young children in home childcare and adults in centers easier in the CACFP.
What’s been added?
- Over 40, 25 and 50 Adult-serving CACFP recipes
- Over 40, 6-serving CACFP recipes for home childcare
- You can find these new recipes on the Institute of Child Nutrition’s Child Nutrition Recipe Box. Search by keywords, ingredients, or program to find delicious recipes!

Implementation of the use of ounce equivalents for grains in the CACFP is required on October 1, 2021. Team Nutrition is making available a variety of resources to assist CACFP operators in making the transition.

New Infant Resources from Team Nutrition

The Healthiest State Initiative wants to reward Iowa workplaces, education providers, communities and individuals for their efforts to improve the physical, social and emotional well-being of Iowans.
Nominate an early care provider (child care center, preschool, in-home day care) that has implemented policy, system and environmental changes that have improved the overall well-being of the students and staff!
Applications are due no later than 5:00 p.m. on October 30.
Finalists will be announced in January 2021 and winners will be announced in February 2021.

The Iowa Healthiest State Initiative wants to make participating in Healthiest State Month fun and easy! They have developed Celebration Toolkits with resources and ideas for schools/child care, communities, health care sites and workplaces to celebrate each week of Healthiest State Month.
Each week in the month of October will be dedicated to each of the individual numbers in 5-2-1-0:

October 12-16: Focus on eating 5 fruits and vegetables each day.

October 19-23: Focus on 2 hours or less of recreational screen time.
- Participate in a screen-free activity as a family.

October 26-30: Focus on drinking more water and 0 sugary drinks.
- Water is fuel for your body. Drink more water!
