Standards crosswalk documents!!!

Division of Community Colleges & Workforce Preparation

Hello!  I hope this is finding you all safe and well.  I have been able to have the time to complete the Human Services standards crosswalk to the national standards.  Hopefully it will help you as you are working on plans for how your program is meeting the required standards for your CIP (the number and description of your program, called the "classification of instructional program").  I have also included the four major CIPs that we use in Iowa.  If you have a question about your CIP and/or believe that you have one that is not listed, please let me know.

Here is the link to the documents!  Human Services Standards Crosswalk Documents

Reminder, the state board REQUIRES the comprehensive and content standards linked to your program are covered by your program courses.  The competencies are the way for you to assess that your students meet those standards.  You choose the competencies, not the standards.  The documents that are broken out by program have a chart that you can use to check what course (or courses) cover those standards so you are sure to hit them all at some point in your program sequence of courses.  This will help you see where you are now and how you may make some adjustments to your courses and program as you move forward to the next program approval year.

In standards based grading, you still need to cover all of the standards in your program For the assessment documents that your district requires, determine the critical competencies that a student completing the program would need to have mastered to be considered proficient. The standards that include those competencies would be considered the critical program standards.

REMINDER:  We will have a work group develop model programs (hopefully in June) that will help us as we move forward.  That will include recommended courses in each program CIP that are tied to the standards.  Eventually we will include the infusion of FCCLA, the CCFCS curriculum, and other resources.  If you are interested in being a part of this important work, please send me an email.
