COVID-19: IPERS service changes effective March 16

March 13, 2020

Dear IPERS member:

As the incidence of COVID-19 cases in Iowa and around the country increases, IPERS is modifying how we offer retirement counseling and education. IPERS carefully considered these new procedures that are intended to ensure the health and safety of our staff and our members.

IPERS always welcomes inquiries from our members. If the nature of your question does not require a 30-minute counseling session, please call us during business hours or submit your questions anytime via email or online. We maintain our commitment to our members.

However, effective March 16 and until further notice, IPERS will no longer offer in-person counseling at our offices in Des Moines or at locations around Iowa. If you were scheduled to receive in-person counseling, IPERS will contact you about how to instead take advantage of counseling by phone or online.

Similarly, IPERS is transitioning all group education classes to live stream events held via the internet. If you are registered to attend an upcoming class, IPERS will send you instructions to access the class by internet one week before the class.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as IPERS does its best to balance the interests of our staff and our members during this constantly-evolving situation.

Sincerely,
