Free Digital Marketing Modules from Facebook

Facebook is preparing to launch a new program called Facebook Blueprint in January 2020, which will help deliver digital marketing skills to students. The materials (modules) are free and generate some up-to-date lessons on digital marketing such as creating a Facebook page for your business, Facebook ads and creating an Instagram account for businesses. Sign-up and then visit the website for the free modules. You can view the flyer from Facebook for more information.

Business Career and Technical Student Organizations

Kent Seuferer

Developing business leaders is important and having access to up-to-date, hands-on activities for the classroom are valuable for students. Iowa educators have access to three different business career and technical student organizations (CTSOs): Business Professionals of America (BPA), DECA and Future Business Leaders of America – Phi Beta Lambda (FBLA – PBL). These organizations are developed to be embedded into your current coursework, rather than creating an outside commitment or additional work for you and your students. To learn more and determine which CTSO would work best for you, please reach out to Kent Seuferer, the Iowa CTSO State Advisor. Kent Seuferer can crosswalk your standards and assist you with the process of integrating a CTSO to enhance your business courses.

The Iowa Work-Based Learning Conference will now be a National Work-Based Learning Conference!

National Work-Based Learning Conference in Iowa

ACTE is partnering with IWBL to provide a two-day work-based learning coordinator’s conference to contain both national and local information. The conference will be held April 22-23, 2020 at the FFA Enrichment Center at DMACC in Ankeny, Iowa. Please visit the conference website for more information and to register.

If you are not currently receiving the Iowa Work-Based Learning Newsletter and would like to, you can sign up through the work-based learning website.

Planning Ahead on Project Ideas

As you begin your planning for next semester, consider a hands-on, real-world project into your classroom to bring a deeper level of understanding and engagement to your students on business concepts and application. Check out the projects on the Iowa Clearinghouse for Work-based Learning. There are well over 100 projects and the businesses are eager to work with you and your students. Want to get started but need a bit of guidance on how to prepare your students for the projects? Contact your AEA representative. Other questions? Contact the Iowa Department of Education’s Jake Welchans at jake.welchans@iowa.gov.
