CACFP Week March 17-23, 2019

Raise awareness of how the USDA's Child and Adult Care Food Program brings healthy foods to tables across the country for children in child care centers, homes, and afterschool programs.  Visit the National CACFP Sponsors Association and utilize the Iowa CACFP Week 2019 Coloring Sheet to help you celebrate and share with families that your child care participates in CACFP.

Healthy, Happy Hearts!

Oelwein Head Start is offering an afternoon of fun and physically active games to parents and children on February 14th. Parents and children will participate in activity stations designed to engage children’s minds and bodies! Families will also prepare easy after-school snacks with Vicki Starks, Farm-to-Early Childhood Education Specialist.

Iowa Farm to School and ECE Conference

You are invited to attend the Iowa Farm to School Conference on June 21-22, 2019. If you’re engaged in farm to early care and education programming, consider submitting a proposal to present a workshop at the conference!  Proposals will be accepted through March 1, 2019.

What Makes a Garden Grow?

The preschool children at Grin & Grow Child Care in Waterloo are learning how sweet potatoes grow in the ground. Miss Tara is teaching Team Nutrition's Grow It, Try It, Like It curriculum and the children are having fun making sweet potato windsocks! The Grow It, Try It, Like It kits are available free from Team Nutrition.
