Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig today issued the following statement on Gov. Reynolds’ Condition of the State address, where she outlined her recommendations for the Empower Rural Iowa Initiative.
“I appreciate the Governor’s focus and vision for empowering our rural communities, including expanding access to broadband and affordable housing. She has always been a strong supporter of rural Iowa. With agriculture as an important driver, I agree there are many opportunities to support growth and economic development in our towns and rural communities.
“I look forward to working with Governor Reynolds and the Legislature on these and other important initiatives. We must continue to build on the momentum of last year’s legislative session where landmark water quality funding and workforce development legislation was signed into law.”
