Retail gasoline prices in Iowa down $.05

DES MOINES – The price of retail gasoline in Iowa dropped $.05 this week, closing at $2.76 a gallon.

Crude Oil Summary

The price of global crude oil fell this week on the West Texas Intermediate (WTI) by $2.76 per barrel over last week, and is currently priced at $67.06.

Brent crude oil fell $2.82 and is currently priced at $76.76.

One year ago WTI crude sold for $52.47 and Brent crude was at $57.84.

Motor Fuels

As of Tuesday, October 23, the price of regular unleaded gasoline averaged $2.76 across Iowa according to AAA. This is $.05 lower than last week and $.34 higher than one year ago. The national average on Tuesday was $2.84, down $.04 from last week’s price.

Retail diesel fuel prices in Iowa were a penny lower than last week’s price with a statewide average of $3.28. One year ago diesel prices averaged $2.71 in Iowa. The current Iowa diesel price is $.01 less than the national average of $3.29.

Wholesale ethanol prices were $.01 lower than last week’s price, currently at $1.27.

The current Des Moines Terminal/Rack Prices are $1.90 for U87-E10, $2.11 for Unleaded 87 (clear), ULSD#2 is at $2.38, ULSD#1 is at $2.65, and E-70 is priced at $1.57 per gallon.

Heating Fuels

Propane prices were $.01 higher than last week for a statewide average of $1.36 per gallon. Home heating oil was down $.03 from last week’s figures, ending with a statewide average of $2.81. Natural Gas prices fell $.06 at the Henry Hub reporting site and ended the week at $3.20/MMbtu.
