connect to careers

Full-Time M-F from 9-5pm incentivized 6-week training we have coming up called Becoming Extraordinary which starts on Oct. 22-Dec 4.  This specific training is geared towards youth ages 18-24 that have some sort of contact with the criminal justice system resulting in charges.  We will go over go in-depth on how to address the charges with employers, ways to goal set knowing the gravity of how they may impact career options and overall how to rectify the situation within the individual so they are able to successfully start to create a pathway forward in employment.  Additionally, we will be covering all the basics in Soft Skill development (resumes, interviewing with REAL employers on site, professionalism, finances, communication, etc.).

At the end of this training, we will be placing youth into a PAID work experience position for 4-6 weeks at $10/hr. with a local employer that is willing to hire them on full-time afterwards if they do a good job.

Our orientation date has passed, but we still have room for several more before the 17th of this month.  If you have any young adults on-site that may be a good fit, let connect!  I will do what I can to make the enrollment as easy for you all as possible!

Let me know if you have any questions!  I have attached the flier if you have anyone you feel might have an interest in this training!

Best-

Iowa Accountability Project

Our mission is to combat domestic violence in the African American community. In order to be successful in our mission, we must connect with the African American community across the state.

We updated our Greater Iowa African American Resource Guide earlier this year, which showcases the amazing businesses, organizations, elected officials, consultants, services, places of worship, etc. either owned by or that cater to African Americans throughout Iowa.  This is Iowa's premier and most sought-after resource guide.

We are currently collecting updates to release a new edition early next year. In order to be a part of this free service, we require the following information from each businesses/organization or a response indicating that nothing has changed:

*Business/Organization:
*Purpose:
Contact Name/Title:
*Address:
Note:  A P.O. Box will suffice
City/State/ZIP:
*Phone:
Fax:
*Email:

Note:  If you would like to receive a copy of the Resource Guide but do not want your email to be listed, please specify.

Website:

Is the business/organization African American owned?

 (*REQUIRED)

If you would like your business/organization to be included in the next edition of the Greater Iowa African American Resource Guide and/or know of a business/organization that should be included, please send me all required information no later than OCTOBER 26, 2018.

Please be aware that if we do not hear from you, we may not include your information in the next edition.

On behalf of the Iowa Accountability Program, we thank you for your time and cooperation. We look forward to including you in our future edition!

Sincerely,
