RE:
Updated North American trade agreement reached
Iowa
Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig issued the following statement regarding the
announcement that the U.S., Canada and Mexico have reached an updated North
American trade agreement.
“This is the welcome news our farmers need as they bring in this year’s
harvest and plan for 2019. Canada and Mexico are our first and second largest
trading partners. This agreement brings much needed certainty to our producers
and ensures access to these critical markets going forward. This brings
positive momentum as the Administration works to conclude other trade
agreements. As I have done since becoming Secretary, I will continue
to push for opening additional export markets and greater market
access for Iowa agriculture products like higher blends of renewable fuels and the
approval of E15 year round.”
