DES MOINES – The
price of wholesale ethanol was down $.04 this week, closing at $1.32 per
gallon.
Crude
Oil Summary
The
price of global crude oil rose this week on the West Texas Intermediate (WTI)
by $2.79 per barrel over last week, and is currently priced at $67.87.
Brent
crude oil rose $3.74 and is currently priced at $74.79.
One
year ago WTI crude sold for $47.64 and Brent crude was at $52.29.
Motor
Fuels
As
of Tuesday, August 21, the price of regular unleaded gasoline averaged $2.69
across Iowa according to AAA. This is $.03 lower than last week and $.40 higher
than one year ago. The national average on Tuesday was $2.83, down $.03 from last
week’s price.
Retail
diesel fuel prices in Iowa held steady at last week’s price with a statewide
average of $3.07. One year ago diesel prices averaged $2.50 in Iowa. The current
Iowa diesel price is $.07 less than the national average of $3.14.
Wholesale
ethanol prices were down $.04 from last week’s price, currently at $1.32.
The
current Des Moines Terminal/Rack Prices are $1.98 for U87-E10, $2.20 for
Unleaded 87 (clear), ULSD#2 is at $2.23, ULSD#1 is at $2.42, and E-70 is priced
at $1.64 per gallon.
Heating
Fuels
Propane
prices were $.03 higher than last month’s prices for a statewide average of
$1.26 per gallon. Home heating oil was up a penny from last month’s figures,
ending with a statewide average of $2.59. Natural Gas prices rose $.03 at the
Henry Hub reporting site and ended the week at $3.01/MMbtu.
Continuing
throughout the summer months, we will only report retail heating oil and
propane prices in Iowa once a month.
