Celebrate 50 years of CACFP!
May 8, 2018 marked the 50th anniversary of the CACFP! Every day, the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) serves over 4.4 million children and 131,000 adults. Thanks to the providers who have supported the wellness, health, and development of children and adults in their care for half a century.

Please Sign up for the Healthy Habits Start Early Team Nutrition Project!
Team Nutrition will select 30 child care centers that serve 3-5 year old children, to be part of the Healthy Habits Start Early project (October 2018 – March 2019). The project will build and sustain a healthy child care environment that encourages nutritious food choices and healthy lifestyles. Centers will receive three visits from a Child Care Nurse Consultant to assist with making changes to improve the healthfulness of your child care food environment. You can apply for a $400 stipend to make wellness environment improvements. Click here to apply.  Contact Patti Delger, Team Nutrition Co-Director if you have questions.

Congratulations to Lori Ferris! She has earned the CACFP Child Nutrition Professional Certification/CACFP Management Certification (CCNP/CMP) from the National CACFP Sponsors Association (NCA). The CCNP/CMP Certification is a special designation for those in the CACFP profession who are committed to continually learning best practices and keeping up with changing trends in the field. Lori has shown this commitment by attending additional trainings and workshops to further her knowledge of the CACFP program. This achievement reflects her dedication to upholding high standards in the CACFP profession. Lori is a registered nurse currently employed as the health nutrition manager at South Central Iowa Community Action in Chariton. Click here for more information about CCNP Certification.

CACFP Conference
The CACFP Conference, held at Hope Lutheran Church April 24-26, was well attended by over 150 participants from center and home sponsor staff. Below is a group shot of the 50th CACFP birthday celebration at the conference.
