2018 Spring Reducing Racial and Ethnic Disparities Conference: “Urgency for Equity: Focusing on Youth-Serving Institutions” will be held on April 19, 2018 at Radisson Hotel and Conference Center in Coralville, IA which a program developed by the Johnson County Disproportionate Minority Committee.  This conference will focus on promising practices and programs that reduce inequities in youth serving institutions.

Upcoming free CLE in Des Moines you won't want to miss!

On April 27 at the Iowa State Bar Association in Des Moines, the Iowa Chapter of the American Constitution Society will host a panel discussion on the criminalization of poverty featuring both Phil Brown, ACLU of Iowa legal fellow who is working on court debt issues, and ILA Assistant Litigation Director and ACLU-IA legal panel member Alex Kornya, and which will be moderated by Mark Kende, Director of the Drake Const. Law Center and chair of the ACLU of Iowa legal panel. The panel discussion is from noon-1 pm, and 1 hour of CLE credit has been approved. 

The preceding hour, from 11-noon, will be a discussion with Professor Peter Edelman on his new book: Not a Crime to Be Poor: The Criminalization of Poverty in America.

The event is free to attend.

We are offering you access to these educational materials so that you can help us spread the word and make sure your members are #VoterReady.
