At the January 26, 2018 Board meeting, the Iowa Dental Board announced appointments to the newly-created task forces on opioids and expanded functions.
Opioid Task Force
The purpose of the Opioid Task Force is to study and evaluate the use of opioids in dentistry and to make policy recommendations to the Board that serve to protect the public.
Appointed members are:
- Dr. Steve Bradley, Iowa Dental Board Member
- Dr. William McBride, Iowa Dental Board Member
- Dr. Mike Kanellis, University of Iowa College of Dentistry
- Dr. Karen Baker, University of Iowa College of Dentistry
- Dr. Kyle Stein, University of Iowa College of Dentistry
- Dr. John Janulewicz, Oral Surgeon
- Dr. Shamayne Frank, General Dentist
- Dr. Rachel Renfew, Pharmacist
Expanded Functions Task Force
The purpose of the Expanded Functions Task Force is to evaluate current expanded functions rules and make recommendations to the board concerning potential changes.
Appointed members are:
- Dr. Monica Foley, Iowa Dental Board Member
- Lori Elmitt, Iowa Dental Board Member
- Mary Kelly, R.D.H., Iowa Dental Board Member
- Dr. Patty Meredith, University of Iowa College of Dentistry
