IMPORTANT!  PLAN NOW TO ATTEND THE ANNUAL STATE FCS CONFERENCE IN JUNE!!!

Conference pieces graphic As a result of CTE Redesign (HF 2392), ALL CTE programs MUST be approved, first by the Regional Planning Partnership (RPP) followed by the Department of Education.  The RPP will set a timeline for when each program is up for approval that could be as early as next year.  The process involves work on the part of classroom teachers to complete a narrative with supporting materials about their program.

Hello!  I wanted to make sure you all saw the information for the Iowa Family and Consumer Sciences Educator's (IFCSE) Conference that will be held June 11 - 13 in Ames this summer.   If you only go to one conference a year, this is THE ONE!!!

Our State FCS Program Management dollars help support this conference and you will note that day one has some important sessions tied to the CTE Redesign legislation. It is designed to help you do some initial work that will guide us all as we work toward mandatory program approval. This work not only incudes HS programs, but also the focus of MS programs toward clusters and career-based connections.  After completing these sessions, you should have one part of the narrative completed of the the required components for program approval.  Following the conference, we will convene small groups of MS and HS instructors to work on additional pieces of a narrative that can be used/modified for additional help in completing the narrative in those with Humans Services comprehensive programs (the majority of our programs across the state).

Perkins dollars, as well as the Regional Planning Partnership dollars are sources to look for funding for this professional development opportunity for both HS and MS educators.  The Conference brochure can be found on the Iowa FCS educators Facebook page.  To register, go to this link.

If you have any questions -- please don't hesitate to contact me.  I am looking foward to a successful conference that helps us all as we work toward program approval!
