Half of black gay men
and a quarter of Latino gay men projected to be diagnosed within their lifetime
If
current HIV diagnoses rates persist, about 1 in 2 black men who have sex with
men (MSM) and 1 in 4 Latino MSM in the United States will be diagnosed with HIV
during their lifetime, according to a new analysis by researchers at the
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Learn more...
The HIV/AIDS Program receives HIV prevention funds from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to provide for HIV counseling and testing, partner counseling and referral services, health education/risk reduction activities and health communication/public information activities. These activities are targeted to high-risk individuals as defined in Iowa’s HIV Prevention Comprehensive Plan. The funding is also awarded to support HIV prevention community planning, technical assistance and capacity building activities.

The Office & Commission of Latino Affairs in partnership with organizations that serve the Latino community in Central Iowa will provide bilingual services and referrals and information.
