The Super Power Summit is an event that empowers teams of middle school students to live an active lifestyle and to choose healthy food options, all while being advocates for school wellness. Middle schools are invited to send a team for an interactive day full of fun activities, empowering presentations, and networking.
There is no cost to attend the summit. Mileage, parking, and sub-pay reimbursement will be available. Meals will be provided at no charge. Teams that attend will have the opportunity to apply for a $500 sub-grant to support school wellness initiatives.
The summit will be held in partnership with Iowa Partners: Action for Healthy Kids, Iowa Department of Education, Hy-Vee Kids Fit, School Nutrition Association of Iowa, and the American Cancer Society.

A workshop will be held on September 27-28 to provide a unique learning experience for School Nutrition Directors. Workshop goals are to support school nutrition programs by providing tailored technical assistance for a healthy environment and increased student meal participation. This workshop will pair participants with mentors so that effective peer-to-peer mentoring is provided in a variety of areas.
This workshop will be facilitated by the Institute of Child Nutrition (ICN) and peer mentors (School Nutrition Directors) who are trained by the ICN. There is no cost to attend and mileage, sub-pay, and lodging reimbursement will be available.

Action for Healthy Kids is accepting School Grants for Healthy Kids applications,
through funding provided by Cargill to support initiatives such as: recess,
play space/gymnasium refurbishing, physical education equipment, classroom
physical activity breaks, nutrition education, school gardens, healthy
celebrations, and more! The goal is to award 22, $1,000 grants to Iowa
schools!

The $30 mini-grant funds are to support the purchase of locally grown produce from a local farmer's market. In addition, grant recipients will receive classroom supplies to integrate the sampling into the classroom environment. All requests to participate must be received by September 9.

Learn how to develop student leaders and build a healthier school through Fuel Up to Play 60, network and exchange ideas, and dig into available Fuel Up to Play 60 funding, rewards and incentives, and more!
