By Florida law, municipalities must set a proposed millage rate each July. This preliminary rate serves as the maximum allowable and appears on the Miami-Dade County Notice of Proposed Taxes (TRIM Notice). Earlier this summer, the Village Council established a starting rate of 3.86 mills—not as a final rate, but as an upper limit to allow flexibility in considering different budget options.
Throughout the budget process, resident input played a key role in guiding the Council’s decision-making, leading to the newly proposed lower rate. While residents will see the higher 3.86 mills figure on their TRIM Notices, this was solely a statutory requirement and not the final rate under consideration.
