Skip the fertilizer from June 1 to September 30 to keep fertilizers out of our waterways. Fertilizers that enter storm drains flow directly into our waterways, and if left untreated, they will contaminate our lakes, ponds, and streams. The sale and use of lawn and landscape fertilizers containing nitrogen or phosphorus are prohibited during this period.

We're all excited for the upcoming Independence Day celebrations, but let's remember that our beautiful beach is a treasure we all share, and we need to keep it safe and clean for everyone to enjoy.
This year, the city is once again asking everyone to leave personal fireworks at home and will enforce current ordinances to curb the use of personal fireworks on the beach.
Current city ordinances that will include the use of personal fireworks will be: • City Ordinance: Building Fires/Open Flames (Sec. 58-45) Fireworks will be considered as using an open flame on the beach. • City Ordinance: Leave No Trace-Obstructions on Beach (Sec. 58-51) Since fireworks leave debris and litter on the beach, they fall under the "Leave No Trace" ordinance. • City Ordinance: Coastal Lighting Standards (Sec. 72-163) Light from fireworks is not sea turtle-friendly and therefore not permitted during sea turtle nesting season.
But don't worry, we've got you covered! The city will be hosting a spectacular fireworks show for everyone to enjoy. Let's all celebrate responsibly and have a blast this Independence Day, celebrating America! 🎉🇺🇸

Treasure Island friends and visitors — Florida's Sea Turtle Nesting Season runs May 1 through October 31. Endangered sea turtles return to our beaches to lay their eggs during this special time.
Help protect sea turtles by doing your part.:
- Keep beaches clean: Remove chairs, umbrellas, and trash at the end of the day.
- Lights out at night: Avoid bright lights on the beach after dark. Artificial lighting can confuse hatchlings trying to find the ocean.
- Respect marked nests: If you see roped-off areas on the beach, please keep your distance.
- Fill in holes and flatten sandcastles: These obstacles can trap nesting turtles and hatchlings.
