On February 20, in St. Augustine, the Treasure Island Police Department proudly received its re-accreditation award from the Florida Commission on Law Enforcement Accreditation (CFA). Originally scheduled for October, the award ceremony was postponed due to the department’s focus on hurricane recovery efforts.
The rigorous reaccreditation process involved a comprehensive evaluation of TIPD’s policies, procedures, and daily operations, ensuring they meet the highest standards of law enforcement excellence.
Chief Barkley expressed his pride in the department, stating, “This achievement is a direct result of the hard work, dedication, and professionalism demonstrated by every member of our agency.” He further emphasized the importance of community support, adding, “This award belongs to the entire Treasure Island community. TIPD could not do our jobs effectively without the cooperation of the Treasure Island community, the basis for community policing.”

The Treasure Island Causeway will be closed on March 11 from 10 p.m. until March 12 at 6 a.m. for essential bridge maintenance. A crane will be used to remove a hydraulic cylinder from the far adjacent span due to an internal seal failure. Once the cylinder is removed, normal bridge operations will resume while the part is sent for rebuilding.
There will be another closure in the future for reinstallation, but the exact date will be announced once the repairs are finished.

All new signs with instructions on how to pay for parking have been installed, and paid parking has returned. The hourly parking rate is $4/hour, except for side street parking on Sunset Beach, which is $5/hour. You can pay using a smartphone and text to park or use the ParkMobile app.
Please note: With the new license plate reader technology, backing into parking spaces is now prohibited. The license plate must be visible to parking enforcement.
Residential Parking Pass Since the city has transitioned from the outdated pay-by-space operation to a pay-by-plate system, residents no longer have to worry about losing their pass! All the same rules applied to the physical pass now apply to the virtual pass. Residents will need to (1) provide ID, (2) proof of residency, and (3) vehicle registration(s) to purchase a resident parking pass. Only one pass is allowed per residence, with a limit of two vehicles. The digital passes cost $5 per vehicle for the calendar year.
