The time has finally come to open the city of Treasure Island’s new and enhanced City Hall. The city is excited to announce a ribbon cutting ceremony on April 2 at 6 p.m. at City Hall’s new location, 10451 Gulf Blvd. Current and former city officials will be in attendance to celebrate this joyous occasion.
The newly renovated, 28,347-square-foot building cost $11 million which included the cost to acquire the property and renovations to the existing building. City Hall will house the City Commission Chambers, City Hall departments, Public Works Administration, and rentable recreation spaces for the community. The facility will serve as a central hub of the city, providing public space that is accessible, functional, and a source of pride for residents.
“This opening has been a long time coming and I know the public is eager to see the final product,” Treasure Island Mayor Tyler Payne said. “This will be a great step forward for our community by adding beautiful spaces for our community groups to use, enhanced technology for better public engagement, easier access to city staff, and more parking in our busiest beach/event parking area.”
The main floor of the new City Hall will consist of the City Commission Chambers with a beautiful view of the beach, a lobby, and the Community Development Department. There will also be enhanced security features requiring electronic access to other floors.
The third floor will be the main staff working floor, with a primarily open floor plan, designed to keep staff located in close proximity for efficiency and collaboration.
The fifth floor will be dedicated to serving the community, with multiple-sized rooms available for classes, meetings, and community activities. This floor also features a premiere event space with a catering kitchen, making it an attractive venue for a variety of functions. This floor will also house the city’s Parks and Recreation offices.
The fourth floor will provide some storage space for the Treasure Island Historical Society but will remain vacant until plans are made as to what should be housed on this floor.
“The city’s staff is excited to move into the new City Hall,” Public Works Director Stacy Boyles said. “We’re a tight-knit team and this space will allow us to work together more efficiently and reflect the pride that we have for the Treasure Island community.”
City Hall is also designed to promote community engagement and provide residents with expanded recreational facilities. The city looks forward to welcoming residents and visitors to the new City Hall and continuing to serve the community for years to come.
Tours of the new City Hall will be offered during the city’s Community Appreciation Day on April 13 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Recognizing remarkable people who’ve played a big role in the city of Treasure Island. The City Commission recognized Greg Morris for his 26 years of service with Treasure Island.
Greg began his career in Solid Waste on June 22, 1998, and transferred to Parks and Recreation in 2021. When asked to describe Greg, responses included reliable, hard-working, and a good sense of humor. The city also wants to acknowledge Greg’s outstanding service, never missing a day of work.
One of his most recent supervisors, Parks and Recreation Director Cathy Hayduke, says her favorite parts of working with him are his dedication to the city and the smile he always has on his face.In addition, two residents remarked how he brightened their days when they saw him out in the field.
In his retirement, Greg is looking forward to celebrating with his family and traveling to see the Grand Canyon with his grandchildren. But to really kick off his retirement, he is planning a big trip to the Philippines.
Please join us in wishing Greg the best in a well-deserved retirement. He will be missed.

The city of Treasure Island would like to give a BIG shout-out to the Treasure Island Dune Savers, a group of volunteers whose mission is to remove invasive species from our precious dunes. The group is made up of local Sunset Beach residents and Florida Native Plant Society (FNPS) members. These invasive plant species are crowding out native vegetation and could disrupt the dune ecosystem.
If you're interested in joining the volunteers or if you would like suggestions on what to plant in your yard, contact the Dune Savers group at DuneSaversTI@gmail.com.
The most serious invasive plant species the group found were:
- White Fountain Grass, Cenchrus setaceus - extremely invasive and problematic.
- Mother of Millions, Kalanchoe daigremontiana
- Mother-in-law tongue, Sansevieria trifasciata
- Asparagus Fern, Asparagus aethiopicus
- Brazilian pepper, Schinus terebinthifolia
- Carrotwood, Cupaniopsis anacardioides
- Rattlebox, Crotalaria pallida

THANK YOU! The Isle of Capri Civic Association presented the City Commission with a check for $3,542 to go towards the purchase of a water bottle filling station, which is to include installation and electrical costs. The water bottle filling station is to be placed at Gulf Front Park. The purpose of the water bottle filling station is to help eliminate the use of single plastics and litter on the beaches.
Any remaining funds from this project will be used for landscaping at the new City Hall. Additional funds of $766 have been deposited in the newly formed Run for the Beaches, Inc. account to purchase the tools, snacks and beverages for volunteers who attend the City's annual sea oat planting event on April 20, 2024.
These funds come from donations accepted at the Isle of Capri Civic Association 3rd Annual Run for the Beaches 5K and One Mile Run/Walk which took place in December of 2023.
Since 2021, the Isle of Capri Civic Association has hosted the Annual Run for the Beaches 5K and One Mile Fun Run/Walk to benefit and promote community-driven sustainability actions and projects.
