Treasure Island Fire Rescue will host a Push Back Ceremony on Dec. 19 at 5 p.m. to celebrate the return of the department's antique fire truck. Over the past 10 months, the 1927 Cosmopolitan American La France has undergone extensive repairs and refurbishment to keep this piece of history in tip-top shape. The ceremony will last for about 30-45 minutes.
Dating back to the late 1800s when fire companies used horse drawn equipment, a “Push Back" ceremony” pays tribute to the time when firefighters had to push the pumpers back into the firehouse because the horses couldn't back the rigs in.
Please join TIFR, community officials and others as we celebrate the return of history at TIFR.

Members of Treasure Island Fire Rescue and the Treasure Island Police Department spent Monday morning collecting toys and cash donations for the Toys for Tots Foundation. The collection event took place outside of the Treasure Island Fire Department.
People dropped off unused, unwrapped toys for children of all ages or made a cash donation that will go towards the purchase of toys. After donating, people were able to enjoy coffee and donuts while meeting members of TIFR and TIPD, including Captain the Fire Dog.
The Toys for Tots Foundation is an incredible organization that aims to ensure that every child gets to experience the joy of receiving a gift during the holiday season. TIFR and TIPD are proud to partner with them to spread happiness and bring smiles to the faces of children in our community.
TIFR will continue collecting toy donations through Monday, Dec. 18. Those interested in donating can drop off toys at the Treasure Island Fire Department, 180 108th Avenue in Treasure Island between the hours of 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Thank you for your support.

Due to the current drought conditions, the Southwest Florida Water Management District (SWFWMD) has issued a modified Phase I Water Shortage Order that includes Pinellas County. The order goes into effect on Dec. 1, 2023.
To best conserve water, Pinellas County Utilities (PCU) will move to one-day-per-week watering restrictions for all customers. PCU urges every water user to reduce wasteful and unnecessary water use and be prepared for more stringent restrictions if drought conditions worsen.
Customers should monitor Pinellas County Utilities’ water restrictions webpage at pinellas.gov/watering-schedule-and-rules for up-to-date information, as restrictions can change at any time. The current authorized irrigation schedule using reclaimed, potable, well, lake or pond sources for Utilities customers is as follows:
Customers south of SR580 (Tampa Road)
- Addresses ending in even numbers (0, 2, 4, 6, 8): Tuesdays
- Addresses ending in odd numbers (1, 3, 5, 7, 9): Thursdays
- Mixed or No Address (such as common areas, entry areas/office complexes, shopping centers and other "no address" locations): Thursdays
Under the modified Phase 1 Water Shortage order, SWFWMD dictates that utilities will issue warnings that do not carry a fine for the first offense. A second offense will receive a citation that carries a $193 fine. If water shortage conditions worsen and a Phase 2 order is issued, any offense will receive a citation and $193 fine.
For more information about water restrictions and water conservation tips, visit pinellas.gov/water-conservation.
