Sunset Beach Dune Restoration Update

The Sunset Beach Emergency Dune Restoration Project is nearing completion. Pinellas County and its contractors have nearly completed the dune building and planting of vegetation that will help keep the dunes intact. Crews will begin moving out this week and the city will begin assessing the permeable parking lots for damage with the goal of having the beach and lots back open this weekend.

City and county officials are continuing to ask people to stay off the newly created dunes to allow the vegetation to grow, assisting in stabilizing the dunes as a natural protection for the Sunset Beach neighborhood.

The city of Treasure Island would like to thank Pinellas County Government and Visit St. Pete/Clearwater for making this project happen. The city would also like to thank everyone for their patience and understanding over the past month as we all worked to get Sunset Beach back to beautiful.

TIFR CPR Classes

Join TIFR on Thursday, Oct. 26, for a Basic Life Support (BLS): Blended Learning with HeartCode class.

The BLS course trains participants to promptly recognize several life-threatening emergencies, give high-quality chest compressions, deliver appropriate ventilations and provide early use of an AED. Reflects science and education from the American Heart Association Guidelines Update for CPR and Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC).

Who Should Take This Course:
The BLS Course is designed for healthcare professionals and other personnel who need to know how to perform CPR and other basic cardiovascular life support skills in a wide variety of in-facility and prehospital settings.

What does this course teach?
• High-quality CPR for adults, children, and infants
• The AHA Chain of Survival, specifically the BLS components Important early use of an AED
• Effective ventilations using a barrier device
• Importance of teams in multirescuer resuscitation and performance as an effective team member during multirescuer CPR

Trick-or-Treat Trail - THIS FRIDAY

It's the most "spook-tacular" time of the year! Come get your trick-or-treat on at the Treasure Island Trick-or-Treat Trail on Oct. 27 at Treasure Bay Golf and Tennis Recreation Center. There will be Halloween fun for everyone. All you should do is dress in your best costume, bring a pail, and enjoy the Trick-or-Treat Trail!

Barktoberfest 2023 - THIS SUNDAY

Celebrate "Howl-o-ween" with your four-legged friends at Treasure Island's Barktoberfest on Oct. 29 at the John Morroni Memorial Dog Park on the Isle of Capri! This "paw-tastic" event will include a doggie costume contest, vendors, great music, food, and more.

Coffee & Crafting With TIPD

Come out and meet Chief Barkley and the rest of your Treasure Island Police Crewe for coffee & great conversation! There will be a craft session in which any children in attendance can work on crafts with a cop! Come kick back and relax and connect with your local police agency.

Sanding Ovations Music Lineup, V.I.P Tent and Event Information

Sanding Ovations Presents “It’s About Time” is fast approaching. This annual event continues to grow in popularity every year and will take over Treasure Island Beach Nov. 16-19 with an encore weekend Nov. 25-26. Sanding Ovations is a free event featuring incredible sand sculptures, live music featuring national and local artists, beach vendors, fireworks and much more. This year’s event will also be cashless. Parking for the event, bars inside the event, and the Sanding Ovations merchandise tent will not be accepting cash. Visitors can pay using their mobile wallets, a credit card or app. Vendors at the event will be accepting cash and/or credit.

This year’s music lineup has something for everyone. Headliners for the main weekend will feature the funky music of George Porter Jr and Runnin’ Pardners, The Landsharks Band, a Jimmy Buffet tribute band, the reggae-style sound of Seranation, and the harmonic sound of Sorell. Local favorites The Black Honkeys and Crossfire Creek will also take the stage. There will be other performances by Kid Royal Band, Sarasota Slim, Motel Funk, Coastal Collective, Alex Whalen. DJ Johnny G will get the music started each day.

The encore weekend will feature School of Rock – St. Pete, Applebutter Express, Charlie Morris Band. Doug Smith, Cornfused, The Beach Rats, Jerry Outlaw Group and Dead Set.

For the first time, this year’s event will feature a V.I.P. tent that will include an open bar, backstage access, and front-row seating. Prices for access to the V.I.P. tent are $75 for Friday, Nov. 17, and Sunday, Nov. 19. The price increases to $100 for V.I.P. access on Saturday, Nov. 18. Those wanting to jam out all three days can buy a 3-Day V.I.P. Pass for $150.

The city’s new Smoking and Vaping Ban will be in effect during this year’s Sanding Ovations. Guests are reminded that there is no smoking or vaping on the beach sand or Beach Trail. Those wishing to smoke or vape can do so in city parking lots or in designated areas set up by each hotel.

Guests to the event are also reminded that no dogs or pets are allowed on the beach. Pets are allowed on the Beach Trail. There is also no glass allowed on the beach. This is for the safety of everyone, including beachgoers.
