Attention Homeowners & Contractors! Many construction projects must have proper erosion control measures in place during construction from start to finish. Some examples of erosion control measures include silt fences, gravel by the roadway, sock filters, and geobags.

What construction jobs require erosion control? Any job that disturbs the soil. Most common projects in Treasure Island include, but are not limited to: • New residential/commercial construction • Swimming pools and spas • Seawalls • Driveways and pavers
What is the purpose of erosion control? Effective erosion control reduces the amount of construction-related pollutants that contaminate runoff water, ultimately entering our storm drains and nearby waterways. It also helps retain sediment onsite rather than ending up in the public roadways.
How will my erosion control be approved and enforced? When a contractor submits a permit application, erosion control measures must be clearly identified on the site plan. Once a permit is issued, if the approved erosion control is not in place during construction, the City’s Code Enforcement Inspectors or Building Inspectors may issue a citation to the property owner to come into compliance.

In the city’s quest to go digital and paperless, the city has created an online permitting and planning system (OPPS) for submitting permits. By signing into OPPS, you can now follow your permit from submission to issuance.
The city now has 100 permit types available for submittal on the OPPS system. New construction and additions have been omitted from the list for the time being, as well as antennas and right-of-way permits. These will be added at a future date.
