To help assist residents without shelter in the City of Treasure Island, city officials have created the Life Intervention Focus Team, INC (LIFT). The mission of the newly created, not-for-profit 501 (c)(3) organization is to aid and advance the availability of social services for city residents and homeless individuals.
The organization will be managed by a “Board of Directors” that will serve as a fundraising body to fund the acquisition of a licensed social worker and potentially procure services to help achieve the mission of the LIFT organization. To qualify to serve on the board, directors will need to be at least 18 years of age and a city resident or business owner in the city.
The City Commission is expected to begin the process of selecting board members in August. Those interested are encouraged to apply by July 22.

Treasure Island Fire Rescue personnel hosted a Bike Rodeo at Treasure Bay Golf, Tennis & Recreation Center this past week for summer campers. A Bike Rodeo is a fun, interactive, and non-competitive skills course designed for kids to improve their bike handling and traffic safety skills. Campers also got fitted for a bike helmet which they get to keep and learned about bicycle safety.
This is just another way TIFR takes pride in giving back to the community and teaching safety on a variety of topics.
A BIG THANK YOU to the Florida Pedestrian & Bicycling Safety Resource Center and the Florida Bicycle Association for providing the free helmets!

In the city’s quest to go digital and paperless, the city has created an online permitting and planning system (OPPS) for submitting permits. By signing into OPPS, you can now follow your permit from submission to issuance.
The city now has 100 permit types available for submittal on the OPPS system. New construction and additions have been omitted from the list for the time being, as well as antennas and right-of-way permits. These will be added at a future date.
