To help assist residents without shelter in the City of Treasure Island, city officials have created the Life Intervention Focus Team, INC (LIFT). The mission of the newly created, not-for-profit 501 (c)(3) organization is to aid and advance the availability of social services for city residents and homeless individuals.
The organization will be managed by a “Board of Directors” that will be composed of no less than five, but no more than nine directors. The board will be a fundraising body to fund the acquisition of a licensed social worker and potentially procure services to help achieve the mission of the LIFT organization. To qualify to serve on the board, directors will need to be at least 18 years of age and a city resident or business owner in the city.
The City Commission is expected to begin the process of selecting board members in August. Those interested are encouraged to apply by July 22.

The Sunset Beach Pavilion is getting a facelift. During this time, July 18-29, there will be interruptions in use and certain areas may be closed while painting. The City will NOT be renting to private organizations during this two-week period. The pavilion will be repainted, restroom partitions will be replaced, etc. During this time the restrooms may periodically not be available for use. Thank you for your patience.

Drowning is the leading cause of death among children ages 1-4 in Florida, the highest in the nation. To put that in perspective, enough children drown in Florida each year to fill three to four preschool classrooms. These statistics are not to scare you, but to help warn parents about the importance of keeping children safe around water.
To help, Treasure Island Fire Rescue is teaming up with Safe Kids Worldwide, Inc. to give out free life jackets to children and their parents in our community. The Life Jacket Giveaway and Touch-A-Truck will take place July 25 from 10 a.m. to noon at Caddy’s Treasure Island, 9000 W. Gulf Blvd.

In the city’s quest to go digital and paperless, the city has created an online permitting and planning system (OPPS) for submitting permits. By signing into OPPS, you can now follow your permit from submission to issuance.
The city now has 100 permit types available for submittal on the OPPS system. New construction and additions have been omitted from the list for the time being, as well as antennas and right-of-way permits. These will be added at a future date.
