Our summer camp season is in full swing, and both Arlington Recreation Center and the Robert L. Taylor Community Complex are buzzing with activity. Campers are enjoying games, outdoor adventures, water activities, exciting field trips, and plenty of laughter-filled days.

July also marks the start of National Park and Recreation Month. This year’s theme, “The Power Of…”, highlights the many ways parks and recreation uplift our community — the power of play, nature, belonging, well-being, and the dedicated people who make it all happen.  Throughout the month, we’ll celebrate the staff, volunteers, and community members who bring our parks and programs to life, along with three exciting pop-up events taking place at our facilities. Help Us Choose a Mascot It's Time to Vote ❎👍 This year, we’re inviting the community to take part in something extra special — help us choose a mascot that represents The Power Of our parks and recreation department! Explore the stories of our nominees and tell us which one you believe best embodies the spirit, fun, and community pride of the City of Sarasota. Voting begins July 1! The City of Sarasota will host a ribbon cutting for Nature Park – Phase One on Monday, July 13, 2026, celebrating the completion of the first phase of the project. This milestone follows the park’s initial opening in December 2023.  Attendees will gather at the clubhouse at 9:00 a.m. before proceeding to the park's entrance for the ribbon cutting. All are welcome to join the celebration.
