Preparing Yard Waste for Curbside Collection Do's for Carts
Important Reminders
- Please DO NOT bag yard waste.
- Containerized yard waste must be curbside by 6:00 a.m. on your collection day.
- City of Melbourne Ordinance
No. 48-30 (8) states that private contractors performing services shall be responsible for removing all debris generated from the performance of their work.
- Large, loose piles are collected on a separate day.
- For better service of a large pile of yard waste, please contact WM at 321-723-4455, or go to wm.com. If you are in the City limits of Melbourne, you can also call the ECO Division at 321-608-5080 or send an email to Recycle@mlbfl.org for assistance with your request.
- Please don't stack yard waste on the sidewalk, in the street, over a water meter or storm drain. This could cause damage to storm drain or flooding.

Popular Florida-Friendly Landscaping Seminar Set for March 21 at Melbourne Auditorium |

This year’s annual free Florida-Friendly Landscaping Seminar will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at the Melbourne Auditorium, 625 E. Hibiscus Boulevard, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., with check-in starting at 8:15 a.m.
Besides numerous vendors, there will be four engaging presentations with topics ranging from bats and pollinators to container gardening. Door prizes will be given throughout the event to winning ticket holders. All participants who complete the surveys will receive goodie bags that include hose nozzles, gardening gloves and native plant seeds.

This free seminar also includes free pastries, fruit and coffee. City Bistro will also be selling food, snacks and drinks. This is a sustainable event. All food, plates and silverware will be composted by Eaton Worms. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own reusable water and coffee containers. Water in large jugs will be provided.
The event is planned and organized by the City of Melbourne, Brevard County Solid Waste, the University of Florida/IFAS Brevard Extension and the Indian River Lagoon National Estuary Program/Indian River Lagoon Council.

Save the Date for 2026 Trash Bash
Trash Bash will be held on Saturday, April 11. If you are interested in being a captain at one our 9 locations or hosting a cleanup in the City of Melbourne as part of the event, please contact Cheryl.caldwell@mlbfl.org or call 321-608-5082.
Last year, Melbourne had 288 volunteers who collected 377 bags of trash plus many larger items that totaled 9,460 pounds. Help us make this event even more successful this year by getting involved!

 Save the Date for the 2026 Secret Garden Tour
What a great way to celebrate Mother's Day weekend by learning and getting ideas from other beautiful landscapes during the upcoming Secret Garden Tour on Saturday, May 9, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
This event invites garden enthusiasts to connect, learn, and share landscaping ideas with other locals. Booklets will be available for purchase in February at various locations. Please contact the ECO Division for more information.
