Join us for a bilingual conversation with Pablo Cartaya on the importance of grandparents in Latinx and Hispanic culture and the meaning of heritage through generations. Cartaya is the author of the acclaimed middle-grade novel The Epic Fail of Arturo Zamora, the upcoming children's book Marcus Vega Doesn't Speak Spanish, and two forthcoming titles in 2019 and 2020.

Celebrate Art Basel in Miami Beach with New York City artist Steve Marcus as he discusses Norman, Martin and Me, a series of artwork inspired by the great American novelist Norman Mailer and his commentary on philosopher Martin Buber's Tales of the Hasidim. Join Marcus as he shares Mailer's unique perspective on Buber's retelling of the fabled stories of Hasidim and his unusual path to discovering and illustrating the passages from this rare academic responsa.

Library Card Holders

Join us at O Cinema Miami Beach for the opening reception of Cultivated Under The Sun, an exhibition of works from the Miami-Dade Public Library System's Permanent Art Collection. Following the reception, enjoy a screening of EX LIBRIS by Frederick Wiseman. The documentary gives us a behind the scenes look at the New York Public Library. The film screening is free to  library card holders and O Cinema members.

The Incredible Years

Participants of this free 14-week program for parents and caregivers of children 6 to 8 years of age will discuss and learn ways to strengthen their relationship with their children, promote positive and reduce negative behaviors, set rules regarding TV and the computer, and support their child's education. Space is limited. Registration is required and closes once the group is full. Participants must attend a minimum of 12 classes.

iLUMA (intergenerational literacy using music and art) combines music, literature, world culture and art with reading comprehension, memory and listening skills. The program is open to children (VPK through 5th grade) and seniors looking to improve their memory skills.
