Leon County welcomes more than 100 girls youth volleyball teams from around the southeast for the second annual Tallahassee Invitational Volleyball Tournament on Saturday, Feb. 7 through Sunday, Feb. 8. This event is one of the largest tournaments of its kind in Tallahassee-Leon County, and will be hosted at Florida State University’s Tully Gym and multiple locations at Florida A&M University, including the Al Lawson Jr. Multipurpose Center. The tournament hosts female athletes, ages 12-18.
The Leon County Division of Tourism Development, in its ongoing efforts to increase the number of visitors to the area, provides special and sporting event grants throughout the year. Leon County Government not only dedicated $7,000 in grant funding to ProStyle Tallahassee – the event organizers, but also provided staff assistance in coordinating with local hotels, attractions and venues.
"This is another example of large-scale sporting events we can bring to town," said Lee Daniel, Director of Leon County Tourism Development. "The campus facilities being utilized are top notch and help us attract quality sporting events, which means a greater economic impact for local businesses."
