Welcome Back to School! Now that school is back in session, do you want to know how the Leon County Public Library will fit into your daily life? Here's a snippet of how we can help you and your family jump back into your busy school schedule. 7 a.m.: Wake up early and prepare breakfast with recipes that are sure to fill hungry tummies.  7:45 a.m.: Take your time driving to school with an audiobook from Axis360 or Libby. 12 p.m.: Check out the “Creating a Positive Work Environment” in Universal Class on your lunch break. These short, self-paced online courses are a great way to stimulate your brain.  4 p.m.: Homework Hub is here to help with questions like “Is the sky blue or is it a reflection of the ocean?” Enroll your kiddos today.  9 p.m.: Wind down for bedtime with a good book. Fall Seed Library Kickoff
Saturday, August 13 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Join us for the Fall Seed Library kickoff where you can pick up a variety of seeds, participate in educational activities, and learn how to create a successful home garden.

The kickoff will offer fun for all ages, including:

• Hands-on seeding activities
• Information about vegetable gardening techniques and sustainable gardening practices
• Healthy cooking demonstration
• Ask-a-Master-Gardener booth

Ask questions and interact with the knowledgeable staff from the Leon County Office of Sustainability and UF/IFAS Leon County Extension.

The ten seed varieties offered through the Fall Seed Library will be available at all Leon County Public Library locations starting Saturday, August 13. Citizens can receive up to three seed packets each month to keep and grow their personal gardens while supplies last. Learn more at LeonCountyLibrary.org/SeedLibrary.

Job Hunting and Resume Building with CareerSource
Monday, August 22 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Main Library

In this workshop with CareerSource Capital Region, job seekers of all levels will learn about helpful tools to support them in securing employment. The first hour of this workshop will explore tactics for focusing a job search to make the most effective use of time and effort. The second hour will focus on resume writing basics, how to identify common resume mistakes, and successful resume preparation tips. Existing resumes are not required. Attendees will create a new resume during the workshop.

Residents of all ages are invited to submit artwork celebrating Hispanic culture, heritage, and history for the upcoming exhibition Cultura Tallahassee: A Celebration of Hispanic Heritage at the Main Library. The exhibit will be on display during Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15 through October 14, 2022. Learn how to participate at LeonCountyFL.gov/HispanicHeritageMonth.

New for Teens! Head to the Lake Jackson Branch Library on the first Saturday of each month at 2:30 p.m. for book chats, snacks, and crafting.  See the suggested book list, but if you don't have time to read the book for that month, no worries. Come chat, craft, and snack!
