April is Autism Acceptance Month
Leon County Government celebrates autism and neurodiversity during National Autism Acceptance Month with art exhibits, sensory story times, a resource fair, and sensory STEAM adventure bags for all ages and abilities from the LeRoy Collins Leon County Public Library System. Topical book lists and movie watchlists give citizens the opportunity to learn more about neurodiversity and the experience of living on the spectrum.

Tallahassee-Leon County Townhall
The non-profit organization The Village Square will be holding a town hall on Monday, April 18 from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at WFSU Public Media, located at 1600 Red Barber Plaza. This event enables Leon County and City of Tallahassee Commissioners to engage with community members in a cross-governmental discussion about where Tallahassee–Leon County is as a community, where we are going, and what challenges we face in getting there. The Library of Things
The Library of Things is a collection of items other than books that can be borrowed from the Leon County Public Library using your library card. Applications Open for County Summer Youth Program
Leon County Government is now accepting applications for the Summer Youth Training Program. In partnership with CareerSource Capital Region, the five-week program allows youth to gain job experience by working with a Leon County department.
Interested youth should apply now at LeonCountyFL.gov/SummerYouth. The application deadline is Monday, April 25 at 5 p.m.

Drop Off Old Scrap Tires for Free Through April. To help prevent breeding grounds for mosquitoes, Leon County Government, in partnership with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, will again host its award-winning Tire Amnesty Days event. Until May 28, citizens can drop off up to 25 tires for free at the Leon County Solid Waste Facility from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday-Friday or at one of the Rural Waste Service Centers from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Friday-Sunday.
Fertilizer Rain Delay Continues in April. The Fertilizer Rain Delay campaign reminds homeowners and professional fertilizer applicators not to apply fertilizer for at least one day ahead of forecasted heavy rain (1 inch or more in 24 hours). Check Leon County social media pages for a reminder to refrain from fertilizing whenever there is heavy rain in the forecast.
