Leon County Public Library Director Pamela Monroe is ready to start her summer early! She can't wait to play croquet in the backyard with this croquet set, available to borrow from the new Library of Things. 

The Library of Things is a collection of items other than books that can be borrowed from the Library at no charge. Starting a garden? The Library has shovels, spades, and even a wheelbarrow. Need to work on your house? The Library has pressure washers and household tools. Having a party? Check out our karaoke machines, indoor and outdoor games, and turntable to play vinyl records.

Click here to browse all the items in the Library of Things, then use your Library card number and PIN to reserve your items for a specific date. Come to the Main Library to check out your items on the reservation date. Explore all the Library has to offer in the Library of Things.

NEA Big Read: Singing Through and Beyond Slavery Presentation and Musical Demonstration Thursday, February 17 7:00 p.m. In-person on the 2nd Floor at Leon County Main Library Drawing on the themes from Toni Morrison’s novel Beloved, Dr. Maria Ryan, Assistant Professor of Musicology at Florida State University, will explore how music was a strategy of survival - both before and after abolition - for Africans and their descendants in America. Musical interludes will be performed by FSU music graduate students Jordan Brown and Alaba Ilesanmi from the Afro-Nyota ensemble. The talk will be followed by a Q&A session. NEA Big Read: Researching Your Enslaved African-American Ancestors with Dr. Juanita Gaston Saturday, February 19 1:00 p.m. In-Person at Dr. B.L. Perry, Jr. Branch Library Experienced genealogist Dr. Juanita Gaston will show you how to trace your enslaved African American ancestors using record collections on Ancestry.com. Kick off the Spring 2022 Seed Library Program with the Leon County Extension Agents during a virtual workshop about vegetable gardening techniques and the importance of eating healthy. There will also be a virtual cooking demonstration!

Love Bites: Anti-Valentine's Day Celebration for Teens

Sometimes love bites! Celebrate at our anti-Valentine's Day party with romance free YA books, broken heart BINGO, cookie decorating, keychains, anti-valentines themed snacks, and more. Ages 13-18.

Free Masks Available at All Leon County Public Libraries The County is continuing to offer reusable cloth face masks at all LeRoy Collins Leon County Public Library locations during regular hours.
