Leon Works Fall Preview Connects Students with Fastest Growing Industries in the Capital Region

Leon County Government, the Office of Economic Vitality, the Greater Tallahassee Chamber of Commerce and Leon County Schools will host a community-wide virtual youth career expo on September 23, 2021, for 7th and 8th graders and September 30, 2021, for 11th and 12th graders.

The Leon Works Fall Preview offers middle and high school students the opportunity to learn about career opportunities in Tallahassee-Leon County from over 50 successful local business leaders and engage with employers to discover career paths that interest them. This virtual event is projected to have 5,000 middle and high school students participating from across the region.

The Fall Preview, an extension of the Leon Works Expo typically held in the spring, is completely free for students, who will also have access to virtual exhibitor booths and resume building opportunities. The public is also able to view the virtual presentations via TalentHub to learn more about opportunities in growing industry sectors in the Tallahassee-Leon County area.

The Leon Works Fall Preview will represent several industry sectors, including trade, health services, construction, manufacturing, and business services which, according to the Office of Economic Vitality, are projected to be the leading sectors for job growth in the Capital Region between 2020 and 2028.

The virtual event will utilize TalentHub, an online career platform launched by the Greater Tallahassee Chamber of Commerce, which allows businesses to post current job openings and visitors to view jobs available in the area, explore careers, build a resume, and learn about local companies.

The public is invited to view the virtual sessions on September 23 from 9:30 a.m. – 3:50 p.m. and September 30 from 7:30 a.m. – 2:45 p.m. For more information on the Leon Works Fall Preview, visit https://cms.leoncountyfl.gov/leonworksexpo/Preview
