Local volunteer coordinators, volunteer program managers and anyone who supervises volunteers are encouraged to attend the free trainings. Both two-hour sessions, which can be completed together or separately, will highlight successful tactics such as:

  • Volunteer recruitment and retention
  • Effective screening techniques
  • Methods for keeping volunteers engaged in your program.

“It’s wonderful that VolunteerLEON is continuing to offer this vital service to our community,” said Matthew Vossler, Director of Volunteers and Engagement with Elder Cares Services, Inc. “A successful volunteer program is the lifeblood of many non-profits and proper training for volunteer managers makes the organizations they work for more effective.”

Since offering volunteer management training in 2004, Leon County Volunteer Services (VolunteerLEON), has trained more than 500 volunteer managers, including many now working for local non-profits.

"Volunteer Management Training provided by VolunteerLEON was instrumental in my career growth and has been invaluable in my current position," said Katie Mandell, CVA, Big Bend Hospice Volunteer Department Manager. "I think anyone working with volunteers would benefit greatly from taking part in this bootcamp."

In addition to training volunteer managers, VolunteerLEON connects passionate citizens looking to support and serve their community with local community partners looking for assistance. Established in 1992, VolunteerLEON has helped facilitate more than 2.5 million hours of community service. Citizens can find volunteer roles at VolunteerLEON.org.
