LEON COUNTY WELCOMES TOP 25 COLLEGE TEAMS FROM AROUND THE COUNTRY FOR THE FSU WINTER CROSS-COUNTRY CLASSIC

Leon County will host the top 25 college teams from across the country as they compete in the Florida State University Winter Cross-Country Classic at Leon County’s award-winning Apalachee Regional Park on Friday, February 5, 2021 beginning at 9 a.m. Anticipated to bring an estimated economic impact of $500,000, the men and women’s teams competition will be held with COVID-19 safety precautions in place.


To provide a safe, welcoming environment for participants, athletes, coaches and essential personnel, the following mandatory participation requirements have been put in place:

  • Teams can bring one spectator per registered athlete. Everyone, including the spectator, must have a wristband to enter the facility which will be included in the team packet.
  • Everyone is required to wear a face covering at the facility at all times, unless they are actively competing or have a chronic preexisting or demonstrable medical condition.
  • Before entering the facility, everyone must go through a Health Screening to check for COVID-19 symptoms, including temperature checks.
  • Event organizers will require athletes to provide a negative COVID-19 test before they can compete.

Media representatives must obtain credentials for the event at the Health Screening tent. To obtain credentials, media must present both a picture ID and a valid media ID (provided by the representative outlet).
