Team Pain Awarded Blueprint Capital Cascades Trail Skateable Art Project

The Blueprint Intergovernmental Agency (Blueprint) has awarded the Capital Cascades Trail Segment 3 Skateable Art project to Team Pain, a Florida based skate park design-build specialist company. The skateable art project, providing a designated skating space for the community, will be located at the northeast corner of the intersection of FAMU Way and Pinellas Street, just west of the Railroad Square Art District.

Unlike traditional skate park designs, skateable art maximizes the creative opportunity of the skateable features to function as iconic and landmark public art, with a focus on movement and visual flow.

“As the City of Tallahassee works to complete the final phase of the FAMU Way extension, this Blueprint project marks another important milestone in our overall efforts to create a public space for residents and visitors to enjoy,” Mayor John Dailey said. “The addition of this signature skate facility will further enhance our community by bringing a unique art experience to the southside.”

Team Pain creates custom skate parks and skate structures for municipal and government agencies, competition facilities, the private sector, production companies for motion picture and televised events, and both professional skateboarders and BMX riders. For over 35 years, the company has continuously implemented and perfected their method to continue producing cutting edge concrete skate parks both nationally and internationally.

Leon County Commission Chairman Bryan Desloge noted, “The addition of the skateable art will complement the features of FAMU Way and the Trail and serve as a landmark symbolizing creativity, innovation and recreation in Tallahassee-Leon County.”

A company dedicated to skateboarding, Team Pain, is comprised of experienced skateboarders. Their passion for the sport, skill at applying modern design principles and unsurpassed craftsmanship has created a team that provides a unique and highly specialized product with each project. Team Pain has designed and constructed 33 custom municipal concrete skate parks in the state of Florida and provided 350+ skate structures and skate parks worldwide.

The design process will include collaboration with the community stakeholders to help shape an artistic vision for the skateable art features, in telling a story bridging the past to the future and incorporating innovation and creativity while providing the community a designated skating space.

The skateable art will be located in Segment 3 of the Capital Cascades Trial, which runs along FAMU Way spanning approximately 1.5 miles from South Monroe Street to Lake Bradford Road. This segment will include additional amenities such as the History and Culture Trail, Coal Chute Pond, St. Marks Trailhead, Community Gathering Space and a Restroom Facility at the FAMU Way Playground.

Known for major infrastructure projects, such as the widening of Capital Circle, Blueprint has also protected over 1,400 acres of sensitive land, created more than 250 acres of parks and invested over $50 million in water quality projects across Tallahassee-Leon County.
