Spring Seed Library Kickoff

Join us on Saturday, February 8 for the 2020 Spring Seed Library Kickoff. UF/IFAS Extension Leon County will offer a hands-on seeding activity, a healthy cooking demonstration, an Ask-a-Master Gardener booth and much more! Vegetable seeds will be available to "check-out" at all library locations beginning Saturday, February 8. 

NEA Big Read-Leon County Kickoff and events 

Join us on Thursday, February 6 at 6 p.m. for our NEA Big Read-Leon County kickoff event of "Borne" by Jeff VanderMeer. National best-selling author, Jeff VanderMeer, will be our keynote speaker for the kickoff and will be discussing his book "Borne" and its themes. We will be giving out copies of his book "Borne" to attendees.  

We will also be offering a sneak peak of our 2020 Spring Seed Library. Anyone who attends the NEA Big Read Kickoff will be able to check out seeds early at the event. This is free and open to the public

Can you escape our post-apocalyptic escape room?  

Time is running out as Wick is scrambling to find medicine he needs to survive in the ruined city. In order to escape the room, teams of 2-4 people must break the codes and find the medicine Wick needs before its too late.

Wild Matters with the St. Marks National Wildlife Refuge

Join us on Tuesday, February 25 at 6 p.m. at the Leon County Main Library as the St. Marks National Wildlife Refuge speaks on the importance of the Refuge and it’s biodiversity. Attendees will learn about upcoming events and how they can become involved with the Refuge. 

African American Read-In 

All ages are invited to celebrate diversity in children's literature as the Leon County Main Library hosts the annual African American Read-In on Sunday, February 9 from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. in the picture book area. The Omega Lamplighters will "Step" in the program room at 3:00 p.m., followed by a performance by Ayoka Afrikan Drum and Dance. 

Personalized Keychains

Teens! Get artistic and make personalized key chains! Snacks will be provided. Join us on Thursday, February 13 3 p.m.- 5 p.m.

Annie Get Your Glue Gun Crafting Meetup

Thursday, February 13, from 3 p.m. - 5 p.m.

BYOC (Bring Your Own Craft) to this crafter’s meetup at the Leon County Main Library the second Thursday of every month at 3 p.m. Bring a project to work on plus share your ideas and tips with others. Have a crafting question? We have a book for that! You can take advantage of the Library’s crafting collection during this meetup. Light refreshments will be provided.

Pop-Up Book Club

The Pop-Up Book Club is a great way to explore wonderful books, meet new friends and sample a variety of food and drink around Tallahassee-Leon County. We meet at a different venue every 2nd Saturday of the month at 10 a.m. Join us on February 8 at RedEye Coffee in Midtown, as we discuss "Borne" by Jeff Vandermeer as part of the Library’s NEA Big Read programming. 

Pathways to Community Healing

Are you interested in uplifting the African American community? Join Paula DeBoles-Johnson, Nicole Everette, Rudolph Ferguson, Sr. and Christic Henry in an inspiring evening of dialogue about community engagement. This panel will empower attendees to go out into the community and make a positive difference.
