Inducted into TCC Hall of Fame

Today, Leon County District 2 Commissioner Jimbo Jackson was inducted into Tallahassee Community College's (TCC) Alumni and Friends Hall of Fame because of his commitment to public service and dedication to shaping our community for future generations. At this year’s induction ceremony, Jackson joined 15 other community leaders, which included a sitting Florida Supreme Court Justice, a former NBA player, and more.

"I am honored and humbled to be inducted into Tallahassee Community College's Hall of Fame," said Leon County Commission Chairman Jimbo Jackson. "From an early age, TCC set me on a course to change the lives of youth and to strengthen our community. To be recognized along with so many other outstanding graduates and leaders truly shows the global reach of the TCC family."

In 1989, Jimbo graduated from Tallahassee Community College with an Associate in Arts degree. Jimbo was an early participant in the articulation agreement between TCC and Florida State University and went on to earn bachelor’s degrees in both physical education (1991) and elementary education (1995). In 2003, he earned a graduate degree in educational leadership and administration. In 2006, Jimbo was awarded the Tallahassee Community College Eagle Saver Award for his work at Fort Braden that secured college scholarships for 26 seventh- and eighth-grade students.

“Jimbo is the genuine article,” said Leon County Administrator Vincent S. Long. “He is a true servant leader. You always know where he is and that he is always going to do the right thing, which is so critical when dealing with issues of the public trust. There is so much that I could say to praise him about the job that he does as a County Commissioner, but the best thing I say about Jimbo is the best thing I can say about anyone, which is he is a person I would want my kids to be around and learn from, and mostly just about how to be a good human being.”

The TCC Alumni and Friends Hall of Fame recognizes alumni and friends of TCC who achieve exceptional accomplishments in their chosen field, exhibit exceptional service at the local, state, or national levels, or demonstrate exceptional service in support of the continued excellence of TCC. The Hall of Fame was reactivated as part of the College's 50th anniversary celebrations in 2016 and now has nearly 150 inductees following today's ceremony.
