Leon County Commissioner Nick Maddox

Installed as FAC President

On Thursday evening, Leon County At-Large Commissioner Nick Maddox was installed as president of the Florida Association of Counties (FAC), representing Florida's 67 counties with the collective experience and knowledge of 377 county commissioners and supported by thousands of county professional staff.

The occasion took place during the FAC Annual Conference in Orange County, where Commissioner Maddox’s acceptance of office was followed by his vision for the association over the coming year. As the FAC President, Maddox oversees the association in directing policy, advocacy and the administration of the Florida Association of Counties.

"I am humbled to serve as president of the Florida Association of Counties and work towards achieving the organization's top priorities," said Leon County Commissioner Nick Maddox. "The association is recognized as the voice for Florida's counties and has played a vital role in shaping me as a county commissioner and a leader. I now have the opportunity to represent not only the citizens of Leon County, but my colleagues across all of Florida. I am looking forward to working together and moving the ball forward."

Commissioner Maddox has served on the Leon County Board of County Commissioners for nearly nine years, recently serving as Commission chairman from 2017-2018. Maddox is also the executive director of the Foundation for Leon County Schools. In addition, Maddox has a background in fundraising with a resume that includes director of fundraising for the Seminole Boosters and vice president of the Bowden Foundation for Ethical Leadership, where he oversaw fund development.

During his tenure as commissioner, Maddox has graduated from FAC’s Certified County Commissioner (CCC) program, earned FAC’s Advanced County Commissioner (ACC) certification and has also been awarded the prestigious Presidential Advocacy Award by FAC for representing the interests of all counties on state issues.

“Commissioner Maddox’s commitment to his constituents and perseverance in standing up for home rule makes him an ideal leader for the Association,” said FAC Executive Director, Ginger Delegal. “Under his leadership, our members will be well represented at the local, state, and national level.”
