Next Library Lecture Series

Join Leon County, the Friends of the Library, and Midtown Reader at the next Library Lecture Series event of 2019 with New York Times bestselling author Mary Alice Monroe on Thursday, June 13 at 6 p.m., at the LeRoy Collins Leon County Main Library, 200 West Park Avenue.

 

This lecture will discuss Monroe’s new novel, The Summer Guests, as well as the bonds and new beginnings that surface after a natural disaster. Before the lecture begins Leon County Emergency Management will engage attendees on disaster preparedness, emergency communication, and the importance of having an evacuation planning.

 

Mary Alice Monroe’s novels have received several Readers’ Choice Awards. She is the recipient of the 2015 Southwest Florida Book Festival’s Distinguished Author Award, and was inducted into the South Carolina Academy of Authors Hall of Fame. Monroe’s books will be available on-site for purchase.

 

Attendees are encouraged to bring a new or bookstore-quality used children’s or young adult title to donate to the LeRoy Collins Leon County Public Libraries.
