Are You Prepared for the Next Disaster? You Can Be

County Puts Disaster Preparedness and Resilience Front-and-Center

As part of Leon County’s commitment to building a #HurricaneStrong community, Leon County will host its next Citizen Engagement Series session on Wednesday, May 29, at 6 p.m., at the Public Safety Complex, 911 Easterwood Drive. The series will give citizens a chance to engage and learn from public safety experts and leaders in Emergency Management.

                         

Entitled “Prepare Now. When Disaster Strikes, It’s Too Late to Plan” the upcoming session will focus on building community preparedness and resilience to withstand man-made and natural disasters. Leon County will convene nonprofit partners, preparedness experts, public safety officials, and other community members to discuss various topics such as disaster preparedness, who to call in an emergency, and the importance of having a plan for your home.

 

This interactive, hands-on event puts disaster preparedness front-and-center just before the start of hurricane season. There will also be an opportunity to leave with some critical disaster preparedness supplies, such as a weather radio and more.

 

Open to all Leon County residents, those interested in the session can register by visiting www.LeonCountyFL.gov/CES. Registration closes Tuesday, May 28 at Noon. Space is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.

 

This citizen engagement event is part of a series throughout May and June to increase community resilience with County programs and services to view the list visit www.LeonCountyFl.gov/GetEngaged. Held since 2012, Leon County’s recurring national award-winning series engages citizens in new and interesting ways.
