County Offers Extra Incentive to Get Prepared

 During National Hurricane Preparedness Week

To help citizens prepare during National Hurricane Preparedness Week, Leon County will provide a free five-gallon bucket and lid with the purchase of at least $25 worth of hurricane supplies at select local hardware stores, while supplies last. Experts encourage keeping disaster supplies in a five-gallon bucket to avoid water damage and provide a durable place for storage.

Beginning Friday, May 10 through Sunday, May 12, citizens can visit a participating location to purchase items on the disaster bucket checklist such as batteries, first aid kits, flashlights and more. To view a full list of items, click here.

The National Weather Service declared May 5 through May 11 as National Hurricane Preparedness Week. The goal is to make sure that every family has a disaster plan.
