Leon County Government invites the community to bring the whole family to the Sustainable Community Summit on Saturday, March 23 from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at J.R. Alford Greenway, 2500 Pedrick Rd.

Aligning with the 10-year anniversary of Leon County's Office of Sustainability, Leon County is once again offering its biennial Sustainable Community Summit, which is a chance to learn and share about sustainability in a fun outdoor setting.

Through hands-on activities, expert lectures, and engaging demonstrations, attendees will:

  • Learn about Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) and how it can help fund improvements to your home
  • Measure your personal carbon footprint with Sustainable Tallahassee
  • Meet local non-car commuter families
  • Learn from experts about electric vehicles
  • Practice how to prune trees from a local urban forester
  • Brush up on your local recycling knowledge
  • Master your vegetable gardening skills with the Leon County Cooperative Extension Service

This year's Sustainable Community Summit builds on 10 years of successful summits that focused on topics like ecotourism, our food network, and a more resilient community. Attendees will have the opportunity to provide feedback on Leon County’s Internal Sustainability Action Plan (ISAP), which will set the path for the County’s future sustainability initiatives.

The day will begin at 8:30 a.m. as people walk, bike, skip, or shuttle to J.R. Alford Greenway, 2500 Pedrick Road. Parking will be at Swift Creek Middle School, 2100 Pedrick Road, and a shuttle service will be available. The event will officially begin at 9 a.m.

Advanced registration is required to participate so don’t delay! Individual tickets are $7 each and a kid’s tent ticket is $5. Coffee, snacks, and lunch are included in the registration fee.
