Commissioner Desloge Appointed to FEMA National Committee

Leon County Commissioner Bryan Desloge was recently selected to serve on the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) National Advisory Council (NAC). Desloge brings to the committee extensive experience at the national and local levels as a past president of the National Association of Counties, a long-serving County Commissioner, and a business leader.

"I am honored to bring my lessons learned from both the private and public sectors to this national committee," said Leon County Commissioner Bryan Desloge. "There is no higher priority than protecting our citizens before, during, and after disaster, and this FEMA committee will have a direct role in shaping policies and practices to keep everyone safe and resilient."

The NAC is a federal advisory committee of up to 35 members who advise the FEMA Administrator on all aspects of emergency management to ensure input from and coordination with state, local, tribal and territorial governments, as well as the private sector. In addition to providing recommendations to the Administrator, the NAC gives FEMA access to expertise, information and advice on a broad range of issues.

Desloge will serve on the Federal Insurance and Mitigation Subcommittee. The committee is responsible for coming up with recommendations for the best way to close the all-hazards insurance gap for renter policies and discovering the barriers to effective code enforcement and how FEMA could support improvements.

The appointment is for a three-year term lasting until May 2021.
