Leon County Holiday Closures and Service Changes for New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day

The following holiday closures and service changes will occur in observance of New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.                       

Closed Monday, December 31, and Tuesday, January 1

  • Leon County offices
  • Leon County libraries
  • Leon County community centers
  • Leon County Animal Control
  • Leon County Solid Waste and Rural Waste Service Centers and Household Hazardous Waste Center 

Remain Open for the Holidays

  • Leon County parks and recreation facilities (parks and boat landings) 

Additional Service Information

The LeRoy Collins Leon County Branch Libraries will close on Saturday, December 29 at 4 p.m. The LeRoy Collins Leon County Main Library will close at 6 p.m. on Sunday, December 30. The LeRoy Collins Leon County Main Library and branch libraries will resume normal operating hours on Wednesday, January 2.

The Rural Waste Service Center at the Solid Waste Management Center on Apalachee Parkway will be open on Monday, December 31. The Woodville, Ft. Braden and Miccosukee Rural Waste Service Centers will close at 5 p.m. on Sunday, December 30. All Leon County Solid Waste and Rural Waste Service Centers and Household Hazardous Waste Centers will resume normal operating hours on Wednesday, January 2.

Waste Pro will operate as normal on Monday, December 31. Residential collection will not be provided on New Year’s Day, Tuesday, January 1. As a result, those with Tuesday service will be collected on Wednesday those with Wednesday service on Thursday, and so forth.

In the event of an animal-related emergency, service is available by calling the Consolidated Dispatch Agency at (850) 606-5800. Leon County Animal Control encourages residents to only use this service to report dangerous or aggressive dogs, sick or injured domestic animals and animal cruelty. Injured wildlife calls will be forwarded to the St. Francis Wildlife Association at (850) 627-4151.
