Leon County Leads Neighborhood Service Day

Nearly 80 volunteers to complete twenty neighborhood rehabilitation projects

Leon County Government invites media partners to the eighth annual Leon County 9/11 Day of Service, an annual neighborhood-wide service day on Thursday, August 23 in the Deer Tree Hills Neighborhood. Media partners are asked to gather at the Deer Den, 1937 Sika Deer Drive at 10:00 a.m. Formal comments and recognition will occur at 12:30 p.m. Neighborhood residents will speak about the importance of the service day.

County employees, partners and neighborhood residents will take on 20 community and housing restoration projects in the Deer Tree Hills Neighborhood including a playground and community center restoration. Nearly 100 volunteers have registered to be a part of the service day. Media will see a range of service projects ranging from landscaping to painting.
