Commissioner Dozier Elected Vice Chair

of Florida Counties Foundation

As part of the 2018 Florida Association of Counties (FAC) Annual Conference in Orange County, Florida, Leon County Commissioner Kristin Dozier was elected Vice Chair of the Florida Counties Foundation. As Vice Chair, Dozier will assist with providing high quality and comprehensive educational opportunities for county commissioners and staff throughout Florida.

The Florida Counties Foundation has continued to build FAC's educational offerings over the last 20 years. Specifically, the programs are designed to educate commissioners and county staff on their duties and to encourage them to be leaders within their communities as well as FAC.

"As Vice Chair of the Florida Counties Foundation, I am eager to work on educational programming that advances public service leadership throughout the state," said Leon County Commissioner Kristin Dozier. "As county commissioners committed to serving our citizens, we do our best work with an in-depth knowledge of government structure, ethics laws, budgeting methods and strategies, as well as economic development and growth management. This role is an exciting one to help set curriculum and goals that will shape our future."

The mission of the Florida Counties Foundation is to enhance the leadership skills of county officials, to facilitate innovative thinking and action by those leaders, and, ultimately to enable counties to prosper as communities in the 21st century. The Foundation oversees the County Commissioners Voluntary Certification, Advanced County Commissioner Education programs and the content for FAC's Annual Conference.

"The Foundation is fortunate to have a dedicated public servant like Commissioner Dozier," said Eric Poole, Executive Director of the Florida Counties Foundation. "Throughout the state, Florida’s counties perform vital public services, and Commissioner Dozier will be a key part of educating and preparing our state's county commissioners."
