County and City Advise Caution During Winter Storm Conditions

Leon County Government and the City of Tallahassee Prepare for Frozen Precipitation 

Starting early Wednesday morning and continuing until about noon, Leon County and Tallahassee will be affected by a winter storm bringing frozen precipitation and low temperatures. During the early morning hours, the County, City, and National Weather Service advise drivers to slow down and use caution on all roadways, especially bridges and overpasses. If possible, citizens are encouraged to stay off the road.

Throughout the evening on Tuesday, crews from Leon County and the City of Tallahassee will be applying sand to area bridges and overpasses to help keep drivers safe and give cars extra traction.

As the winter storm approaches, citizens are encouraged to stay updated on Leon County and City of Tallahassee emergency information by using the following resources:

•Download the Leon County Citizens Connect mobile application - the Citizens Connect mobile app puts timely emergency notifications at your fingertips through push notifications on your smartphone or other device. Download the application on the Apple and Google Play stores.

•Download the City of Tallahassee’s DigiTally app - Through the app, citizens can easily report City services issues, such as power outages, traffic concerns and more. The app is available for download from the Apple and Google Play stores.

•Visit the Leon County Emergency Information Portal - Hosting the same information as the Citizens Connect app, the Emergency Information Portal can be accessed on a desktop or a mobile browser by visiting www.LeonCountyFL.gov/EI .

•Visit Talgov.com, Facebook.com/COTNews or Twitter.com/COTNews - Information and updates about City services will be posted on the City’s website and social media accounts to keep citizens informed.

•Call (850) 606-3700 with questions - Leon County Emergency Management staff is available to answer questions throughout the day on Wednesday and until weather conditions improve.

•Call (850) 891-4968 with questions about City services. Representatives will be available throughout the night tonight and throughout the day tomorrow.
